WhyHunger, a non-profit working to end hunger, is launching its Hungerthon fundraising campaign with its second annual Amplified concert. It happens on October 15 at Irving Plaza, with The Roots, Grace Bowers & The Hodge Podge, and to be announced special guests. Tickets are on sale now.
“It’s hard to think of a more worthy goal than helping people worldwide to access food,” The Roots say. “We’re honored to join WhyHunger for a great night of music and proud to support the work they do – making the world a better place.”
WhyHunger Executive Director Jenique Jones adds, “We’re thrilled to hold our second annual Amplified – a joyous celebration of music that raises awareness of our important mission. Nutritious food is a human right, but one often denied. We’re proud of our work worldwide to address the social, environmental, racial, and economic injustice at the root of hunger, and we hope you’ll join us in this ongoing journey toward justice.”
Meanwhile, The Roots drummer Questlove has been one of the guests at Robert Glasper‘s Blue Note Jazz Club residency, which is happening now. He and Glasper were joined by Common on Wednesday night (10/9), along with Isaiah Sharkey, James Poyser, Burniss Travis, Stro Elliot, Jean Baylor, Samora Pinderhughes, and Cory Henry, and you can watch attendee-taken video below.
