Stream NJ emo band Ogbert the Nerd’s new album ‘What You Want’

Back in May, New Brunswick, NJ emo band Ogbert the Nerd put out the new single “For Posterity” and promised that their sophomore album What You Want would be out “this summer.” Well, this summer is today. The album comes three and a half years after their December 2020 debut LP I Don’t Hate You, and it picks up right where they left off. It’s loaded with scrappy, shouty, riffy “emo revival revival” (aka, it sounds like Cap’n Jazz and Braid by way of Snowing and Algernon Cadwallader), and it’s also got some acoustic guitars, bells, and horns that add a pretty side amidst all the sweaty chaos. Ogbert use plenty of familiar tricks, and they do it really well and make it sound so lively that even listening to the album feels like being right up against the band at a basement show.

Ogbert will support the album on a short August tour that includes shows with Kerosene Heights, Red Sun, and Cheem, varying by date, and that ends with a release show in Jersey on August 7 at Salty’s Beach Bar with Cheem. Stream the album and find the tour poster with all dates below.
