London-based singer songwriter Elanor Moss will release her debut album, The Knife, The Needle, on August 21 via Merge. She re-recorded it with producer and engineer Pete Miles in a cabin in the Scottish highlands after rejecting the “a bit rollocking” version she’d recorded in NYC, and after sharing the first single, “Sarah Waiting in the Car,” last month, she’s given us another preview with “The Way That It Feels.” It’s another spare, delicate folk song, and Moss says, “This was the last song written for the album, and feels to me like it sums up the spirit of the record. The more I learn about love the less I know, the more I know about someone, the more I know I don’t know them. It feels like an appropriate last song for an album about paradoxes; love asks us to hold contradiction without giving in to its discomfort. A song about not turning away, but turning towards.”
Moss will support Angelo de Augustine at a few West Coast shows in August, and she’s announced a fall tour of the US, starting with NYC’s Night Club 101 on October 19. Tickets are on sale now, and you can see all dates below.
