Scottish indie rock greats Arab Strap have announced their eighth album, which has a very 2024 title: I’m totally fine with it 👍 don’t give a fuck anymore 👍. That will be out May 10 via Rock Action and is Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton’s first since 2021’s great As Days Get Dark. The title is a text they got from their touring drummer that Moffat thought was funny and appropriate.
The first single is “Bliss,” which marries Arab Strap’s signature menacing, brogue-y sprechgesang with four-on-the-floor electro-disco. “It’s about women being terrorized online; it’s about cowardice and bigotry,” the band say. “It’s about how we expose ourselves on social platforms while hiding alone at home. But you can dance to it too!” It comes with a striking video by Ains and you can watch that below.
