So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
PRIMAL SCREAM – “READY TO GO HOME” & “THE CENTRE CANNOT HOLD”
Primal Scream have shared two more songs from their upcoming album Come Ahead which they made with producer David Holmes. Both “Ready to Go Home” and “The Centre Cannot Hold” are party jams with a message.

KAITLYN AURELIA SMITH & JOE GODDARD – “NEPTUNES”
Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith have teamed up for a new collaborative EP, Neptunes, due out on November 22 via Smugglers Way. They’ve shared the title track, about which Smith says, “I loved what the rhythm made me feel when I first heard it. I actually thought he was tapping into Neptune as a planet, and the qualities I felt it possesses. So my side of things brought out more space-themed sounds as a result.”

ALAN SPARHAWK (LOW) – “HEAVEN”
Low’s Alan Sparhawk releases White Roses, My God this Friday and here’s one more preview before the whole thing drops. “Heaven” is a funky electo gospel jam that brings a new spirit to spirituals.

SON LUX – “RISK OF MAKE BELIEVE”
Son Lux announced a new EP, Risk Of Make Believe, due out on January 17 via City Slang, and shared the moody, shapeshifting first single and title track.

LIQUID MIKE – “CROP CIRCLES”
Here’s another ’90s-style alt-rock/powerpop jammer from Liquid Mike.

JENNIFER CASTLE – “EARTHSONG”
Canadian artist Jennifer Castle’s new album Camelot is due out on November 1 via Paradise of Bachelors and Solstice Radio, and she’s given us another preview with “Earthsong,” a beautiful, meditative folk song. “‘Earthsong’ was one of the last songs I wrote for what would become Camelot,” she says. “Seeded from hope, imagination, destiny and resistance, the line that works on me like medicine is ‘I belong to the world.’ Feels good to say and mean that.”

TESS PARKS – “CALIFORNIA’S DREAMING”
“I believe people are innately good and everything that happens and everyone that comes into your life is a great teacher,” says Tess Parks in regards to her very good new single. “EVERYBODY LOVE EVERYBODY,” she adds. Pomegranate is out October 25.

CONTOUR – (RE)TURN” / “MERCY” / “ENTRY 10-4 (MOOD RECIPE)”
Charleston, SC-based artist Contour (Khari Lucas) will release Take Off from Mercy on November 1 via Mexican Summer and it features Saul Williams, Mndsgn and co-producer Omari Jazz. He’s just shared three songs from the album. “These songs take place somewhere in the (narrative) middle of everything—in the space between breakdown and clarity where anything can happen,” says Lucas. “There’s a lot of questioning of self/other/god happening and viscerally feeling through those questions and maybe some withdrawal going with it as well.”

BEACH BUNNY – “CLUELESS”
“I wrote this song in February reflecting on the passing new year,” Beach Bunny’s Lili Trifilio says. “It took me 5 minutes to write, in a lot of ways it wrote itself – it’s not supposed to be sad, I just hope it makes you feel something. Time & changing are complicated subjects, I didn’t write this track with the intention of forming any conclusions, I really just needed to get my thoughts out – I still don’t understand it all, but that’s the fun part of being alive: figuring it out along the way.”

BETTER LOVERS – “AT ALL TIMES”
Every Time I Die/Dillinger Escape Plan supergroup Better Lovers have shared a self-proclaimed power ballad from their upcoming debut album Highly Irresponsible. “I’ve been looking forward to the ‘writes power ballads’ stage of my existence for a while now,” says vocalist Greg Puciato. “I knew it was coming. I had no idea it would be with this band. As a vocalist, it’s really exciting to be with guys that can write songs like this AND ’30 Under 13.’ This one’s for the lovers.”

ROSALÍA – “OMEGA” (ft. RALPHIE CHOO)
It’s Rosalía’s birthday today (HBD!), and she’s celebrating by releasing this sweeping new song with Ralphie Choo.

GHAIS GUEVARA – “LEPROSY”
Philly rapper Ghais Guevara, who’s been co-signed by Backxwash, Soul Glo’s Pierce Jordan, and others, has signed to Fat Possum. His first single for the label is the psychedelic “Leprosy.”

BEN QUAD – “YOUR FACE AS AN EFFIGY”
Oklahoma City emo band Ben Quad announced a new EP, Ephemera, and they shared this heavy new song. Read more about it here.

EYAS – “SOMETHING IN BETWEEN” (PROD. BARTEES STRANGE)
Eyas is the moniker of Baltimore musician Jenna Balderson, and she’s gearing up to release her debut EP on November 22, produced by Bartees Strange. Read about new single “Something In Between” here.

MAXO KREAM – “CRACC ERA” (ft. TYLER, THE CREATOR)
Three years after first teaming up on “Big Persona,” Maxo Kream and Tyler, the Creator have reunited on another new song together, “Cracc Era.” It follows a few other 2024 singles for Maxo Kream, and a press release says Maxo is currently putting the finishing touches on his next album.

AMYL & THE SNIFFERS – “BIG DREAMS”
Amyl and The Sniffers‘ new album Cartoon Darkness is out in exactly one month, and they’ve just shared a new single. “Big Dreams” is pretty different for Amyl, a brooding, slow burn that keeps things at a simmer till opening up into widescreen rock glory in the last minute or so. It’s not exactly a ballad but does present another side of the band, which makes for a nice contrast to their high-octane rippers.

INTERPOL – “COLD HANDS” (LIVE IN MEXICO CITY 2005)
Interpol are releasing an expanded edition of their second album, Antics, for its 20th anniversary that comes with a recording of the band’s 2005 show in Mexico City.

CHILDREN’S CRUSADE (DOUG GILLARD OF GBV) – “MAN-GUN”
Doug Gillard has been an indie rock fixture since the ’80s, having played in Ohio bands Death of Samantha, Cobra Verde and My Dad is Dead before joining Guided by Voices, and he’s also spent time in Nada Surf, Beatles tribute band Bambi Kino and more. One of his earliest groups, though, was Children’s Crusade, a mid-’80s post-punk band he formed in high school with Fraser Sims. The band’s music has been pretty hard to find, but their 1984 tape A Duty-Dance With Death is getting its first-ever vinyl and CD pressings via Robert Pollard’s new Splendid Research label.
