Yeah Yeah Yeahs returned to the stage for their first show in over a year on Tuesday (6/10), launching their “Hidden in Pieces” tour at Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside, CA. They said they’d be “playing songs that are rarely (if ever) performed, alongside all time favorites with new arrangements to delight…and yes there will be acoustic guitars and strings too” for this run, and Tuesday night’s set included the live debut of Gold Lion b-side “Let Me Know,” “Little Shadow” from It’s Blitz!, and “Mars” from their most recent album, 2022’s Cool It Down. They also broke out some deep cuts — including “Mystery Girl,” “Warrior,” “Isis,” and a cover of Björk‘s “Hyperballad” — performing each for the first time in over a decade. Yeah Yeah Yeahs head to the UK next week, with North American shows resuming at the end of the month and running through July, wrapping up with three NYC shows at Beacon Theatre on July 28, 29, and 30 (with Lael Neale on night one, Mason Lindahl on night two, and Grace Bergere on night three). They’ve also been added to the Newport Folk Festival lineup. See all dates below.
