The beginning of Deftones‘ highly anticipated headlining tour at Portland, OR’s Moda Center last night (2/25) also meant The Mars Volta played their first show of the year as opener. They surprised attendees with a set of all new material, that seems to be the debut of their new album. Rumors have been circulating for the last month that their ninth album, Lucro sucio; Los ojos del vacio, will arrive in April, and while the band haven’t made an official comment on the matter, their Tuesday night setlist seemed to match up with the leaked tracklast. The Mars Volta will be out with Deftones through April, including an NYC show at Madison Square Garden on April 3 and a Newark, NJ show at Prudential Center on April 9, and hopefully we’ll have concrete news of a new album by then. Stay tuned.
