Slowdive just released their masterful fifth album, everything is alive, which refines their distinctive brand of shoegaze into its most subtle form yet. Consequence talked with drummer Simon Scott about formative records, and he chose “10 Shoegaze Albums Everyone Should Own” for the site’s Crate Digging feature.
While there are some obvious classics — two spots go to My Bloody Valentine — Scott reaches outside the boilerplate definition of “shoegaze,” but all his choices make sense, especially in regards to Slowdive, including Talk Talk, Sonic Youth, and more.
