The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie kicked off their 20th anniversary tour for Give Up and Transatlanticism at Washington DC’s The Anthem last night. For The Postal Service, it was their first show in over 10 years, since August of 2013, and as Stereogum points out, both bands played their classic albums in full with no extras. They saved a couple of treats for the encore, though: Ben Gibbard and Jenny Lewis did “Such Great Heights” as an acoustic duet after The Postal Service had played the full band version during their set, and then the full lineups of both bands reconvened onstage for a cover of Depeche Mode‘s “Enjoy The Silence.” Watch video of that below.
Death Cab and The Postal Service’s tour continues through mid-October, including NYC shows at Madison Square Garden on September 19 and 20 with Warpaint. See all dates below.
