Primus brought out Ty Segall & Sean Ono Lennon in NYC, paid tribute to Ozzy in CT (pics, video)

Primus are on their Onward & Upward Tour, which has made its way to the East Coast. Monday night (7/21) they stopped in NYC for a show at The Rooftop at Pier 17, where opener Ty Segall joined them for their encore rendition of “Southbound Pachyderm.” He’s done that a few times this run, but NYC also got a second guest on that song, Les Claypool’s Claypool Lennon Delirium bandmate Sean Ono Lennon. “It’s been our honor to have Ty Segall tour with us this summer,” Claypool sold the crowd part of the way through the song. “And this is the last show he’s going to do with us for a few weeks before we meet back up in Los Angeles. So we figured we’d have him come on out and make a little racket for you. And he’s accompanied by a good friend of ours, a fella we call ‘Shiner.'” Watch video of that and a few other songs from NYC, and see pictures from both Primus and Ty’s sets by Ryan Muir below. Primus hit Bridgeport, CT’s Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater the next night following the sad news of Ozzy Osbourne’s death, and as JamBase points out, they paid tribute to the Prince of Darkness:

Tuesday’s concert in Bridgeport began with “Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers,” which included a tease of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man.” The trio then worked up a partial presentation of Osbourne’s classic “Crazy Train” while images of The Prince Of Darkness appeared on the screens behind the band. Later in the set, Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” served as the intro to “HOINFODAMAN.” Along with the Ozzy tributes, Primus also offered the tour debut of “Pudding Time” last night at Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater.
