So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
THE WORLD IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE & I AM NO LONGER AFRAID TO DIE – “DISSOLVING”
The World Is A Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid To Die showed off a heavier direction on their recent Dreams of Being Dust singles, and new single “Dissolving” kinda finds them in atmospheric dream-metal territory. They also recently announced a tour.

AVALON EMERSON – “SORT OF LIKE A DREAM” FT. ANUNAKU & “YOU’RE MY WORLD” FT. PRIORI
Avalon Emerson has shared two new tracks from her ongoing Perpetual Emotion Machine series, “Sort of Like a Dream” featuring longtime friend and collaborator Anunaku, and “You’re My World” featuring Quebec producer Priori. ““These songs were created for my DJ sets,” she says of her Perpetual Emotion Machine material. “Whether they’re entirely original, edits to recontextualize old favorites, instrumental, or feature me singing, they are all part of my perpetual emotion machine. And the machine steams on.”

INTERNAL BLEEDING – “CROWN OF INSIGNIFICANCE”
New York brutal death/slam legends Internal Bleeding have announced a new album, Settle All Scores, due October 17 via Maggot Stomp. Here’s lead single “Crown of Insignificance.”

RACHEL BOBBITT – “HANDS HANDS HANDS”
Canadian artist Rachel Bobbitt has announced her debult full-length album, Swimming Towards the Sand, due out October 17 via Fantasy. She calls new single “Hands Hands Hands” “equal parts dream and experience—the first verse built around the experience of losing a loved one from afar, and the second verse a surreal depiction of the feelings of helplessness and horror that can accompany grief. The chorus is borrowed from a children’s song from the 1870s—a song my grandfather used to sing constantly, called ‘Reuben and Rachel.'”

BODYWEB (HIGHER POWER) – “DEADWIRE”
Bodyweb are a new UK metal/hardcore band whose lineup includes Higher Power guitarist Louis Hardy, and their debut EP deadwired comes out September 6 via Flatspot. Here’s lead single “deadwire,” an anthemic metalcore/nu metal hybrid.

KIERAN HEBDEN (FOUR TET) + WILLIAM TYLER – “SPIDER BALLAD”
Kieran Hebden and William Tyler’s anticipated new collaborative album arrives in September, and they’ve given us another preview with “Spider Ballad.”

TOMBS – “FERAL DARKNESS”
Tombs have announced a new album, Feral Darkness, due October 17 via Redefining Darkness. Here’s the title track.

ADA LEA – “MIDNIGHT MAGIC”
Ada Lea’s new album when i paint my masterpiece is out in a couple weeks, and she’s given us another preview with “Midnight Magic.” “I felt like I was taking a leap of faith with this surreal approach—and it felt good to trust that the song knew best,” she says. “In an artist talk, Margaux Williamson said her new body of work took her 8 years to complete, and said ‘I am constantly needing to remind myself that the hand knows better than the brain.’ I nodded Yes. When it came time to record the vocals, a lot had happened since the initial recording session, the most significant being a second trimester pregnancy loss. It was gruelling. As soon as I physically could, I started singing and resumed working on the album again. As I sang the first lines of this song, which go ‘angel, promise me this,’ I immediately burst into tears because I knew that the song was for my baby.”

TYLER BALLGAME – “GOT A NEW CAR”
LA-via-Rhode Island’s Tyler Ballgame is a crooning folk singer who signed to Rough Trade Records, and here’s new single “Got A New Car.”

TOPS – “ANNIHILATION”
TOPS’ new album and first for Ghostly, Bury the Key, is out next month, and the latest single is the groovy “Annihilation.” “It’s easy to fear the future but in the end nothing is ever finished and you just gotta follow your heart,” they say. “It’s like a mix of complacency and surrendering. As we were working on it a lot of cultural ‘greats’ were passing away. People like Sinead O’Connor and Ryuichi Sakamoto have been incredibly influential on our music and it’s sad to think that they’re on their way to being forgotten. We added a part that’s meant to be a wink to ‘Behind the Mask’ by YMO.”

FLOCK OF DIMES – “LONG AFTER MIDNIGHT”
Wye Oak’s Jenn Wasner announced her third solo album as Flock of Dimes. <The Life You Save is due out October 10 via Sub Pop, and the lead single is twangy indie rock track “Long After Midnight.”

HEAVENSGATE – “RAIN”
Melbourne metalcore band Heavensgate dropped a bone-crushing new track via Pure Noise.

SAY SHE SHE – “UNDER THE SUN”
“‘Under The Sun’ is our summer ode to standing up to the man and is about the irony of living under pressure in a beautiful setting,” Say She She say of their new single. “We wrote it in Hollywood during the writers’ strikes about the posited power of the union, but it also feels just as much of a tribute to people protecting their neighbors from military henchmen. It’s meant to remind us that collective power, if harnessed in the right way, has the capacity to help us thrive and not just ‘survive’ in this beautiful land under the sun.” It’s from their new album Cut & Rewind, due out on October 3 via drink sum wtr.

SILVER GORE – “DOGS IN HEAVEN”
Silver Gore, the London duo of Ava Gore and Ethan P. Flynn, have shared their debut single. “Dogs in Heaven” is out via Island, and it’s inspired by All Dogs Go to Heaven. “We set out to make a song based around exactly how we’re feeling in a moment,” they say. “Every decision then grows from that emotion; whether it’s the lyrics or the drum sound. We try to document it exactly how it is in the moment.”

JOANNE ROBERTSON – “GOWN” (ft. OLIVER COATES)
UK musician Joanne Robertson has announced a new album, Blurrr, due September 19 via AD 93. Lead single “Gown” is one of three songs on the album that features Oliver Coates.

HAAI – “HEY!”
London-via-Australia producer and songwriter HAAi is releasing her newa lbum HUMANiSE in October, and the latest single is “Hey!,” which she says is “dedicated to the unmatched human connection we feel on the dance floor. The repeated lyrics ‘can’t live without you’ is a nod to my love for the club and the people in it.”

HOW MUCH ART (FIDDLEHEAD, GEL) – “PR”
Vocalist Pat Flynn and drummer Shawn Costa of Fiddlehead, Have Heart, Free, Sweet Jesus, and more recently launched yet another band together, How Much Art (named after an SSD song), which also features former Gel guitarist Maddi Nave and others. Read about their debut single “PR” here.
