So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
JAMES BLAKE – “LIKE THE END”
James Blake has shared a new single, a slow-burner that finds him in ambient, beat-driven, and singer/songwriter territory all at once.

FKA TWIGS – “DRUMS OF DEATH” FT. KORELESS
FKA twigs has given us another early taste of her new album Eusexua, the glitchy “Drums of Death,” which was the last track from the album to be finished.

BLANCK MASS – “BLOODHOUND”
Blanck Mass has shared a pummeling, caustic, industrial-tinged rager that he also says is “perhaps the closest Blanck Mass has ever come to penning a love song.”

KNEECAP – ‘FINE ART REMIXES’ EP
Irish rap group Kneecap have shared an EP of remixes of tracks from their debut album featuring the talents of David Holmes, Sam Interface and Jonah Swilley.

HORSEGIIRL – “TAKE IT OFFFF”
Berlin-based DJ and producer horsegiirL announced a new EP, very important pony, due out January 31 via Three Six Zero, and shared a new single from it, “take it offff.” “Mietze Conte and I spent 3 days in Vienna in the studio and just made the funnest songs in no time and ‘take it offff’ is one of them,” she says. “It started as a really slow, kinda heartbreaky melody until we decided to speed it up and noticed how sexy the track was. It’s encouraging you to get your exercise in.”

WARMDUSCHER – “TOP SHELF”
Warmduscher release new album Too Cold to Hold this week and here’s one last early taste before the whole thing drops. The band’s Clams Baker says “Top Shelf” is “The age old tale of one person thinking they want something else, changing their situation only to want to get back into the original situation and inevitably ending up in a much worse situation. Love what you got!”

CECILE BELIEVE – “SPARK” FT. YUNÈ PINKU
“Spark is a tender call to take ownership for our feelings and a reminder that the key to getting outside ourselves is often found in being with others,” Cecile says of her sparkling new single. “It was a lovely exchange and felt so natural to have yunè join me on this track after I had helped work on a song from her recent EP Scarlet Lamb.

BASIA BULAT – “MY ANGEL”
“This is a song about love at first sight–a rush of overwhelming emotion that feels definite, unmistakeable, and mysterious all at the same time,” says Basia Bulat of her hooky new single. “I wanted my singing on this song to reflect the way that I wrote the music: sneaking in moments while my baby daughter was sleeping, rushing to the Wurlitzer in the basement when an idea struck in the middle of the night. The string arrangements on ‘My Angel’ and the entire album were all written and performed by Drew Jurecka and I love how he captured the mystery and romance of love at first sight, the violins transforming into something divine.” New album Basia’s Place is out February 21.

KESTRELS – “SLEEPLESS”
Canadian shoegaze vets Kestrels return with their firs album in five years, Better Wonder, on February 14 via Darla. “Sleepless” has both haze and melody. “This song has a lot going on musically — listen closely,” bandleander Chad Peck says. “Lyrically it’s pretty straightforward: I am losing it a little bit in quiet and private ways.” Tim Wheeler of Ash programmed the drums and the 8-bit animated video is by Japanese artist Takekiyo.

LIGHTMAN & LIGHTMAN – “WEAVE YOUR NAME IN MINE”
Lightman & Lightman, aka Romy & Sari Lightman who used to record as Tasseomancy and were in Austra’s band, have shared a second song from their upcoming debut EP. It features Hand Habits on guitar and they say: “I wanted to capture the passion, desperation, even the romantic infatuation to converse with and be seen by the divine. A love song to God through the eyes of Etty & Jeanine with the devotional sincerity of a 60s girl group. I wrote this one much later than the rest of the album. I was walking through a public garden, staring at the roses, thinking of Dantes’ Paradise, and thought what would a pop song about divine love plucked from the secular sphere sound like? In the music video animated and directed by Zak Tatham, we asked our friend, a contemporary dancer to play the role of “the divine source on the ceiling” holding and reflecting back our shared and interconnected humanity.

NOUVELLE VAGUE – THE POWER OF LOVE (FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD COVER)
French bossa nova new wave cover band Nouvelle Vague have offered up a holiday song, their take on Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s ballad which went to #1 in the UK in 1984.

GAY MEAT – “CHAMPAIGN ILL”
Gay Meat has shared a new single, a scrappy, scratchy, and tuneful indie rock song called “Champaign Ill.”

JOE ARMON-JONES – “SORROW” (ft. LIAM BAILEY)
Ezra Collective member Joe Armon-Jones teams up with singer Liam Bailey for a vintage-sounding dub/reggae song, “Sorrow.” The song also features Joe’s Ezra Collective groupmate James Mollison on sax, Black Midi’s Morgan Simpson on drums, Nubiyan Twist bassist Luke Wynter, and Mark Mollison, guitarist for Loyle Carner and Celeste.

MUTINY – “MONARCH” & “O SALUTARIS”
Ska-core supergroup Mutiny (members of Voodoo Glow Skulls, Dissidente, and more) have put out an EP with two new rippers, and it also features Kprean versions of those same two songs sung by members of 18 Fevers and Turn For Our.

DESTRUCTION – “DESTRUCTION”
German thrash vets Destruction have announced their 16th album, Birth of Malice, due March 7 via Napalm Records. The first single is an eponymous song that the band promises “builds a bridge between our old school sound and riffing, including song title phrases from classic Destruction tracks and more shredding & melodic twin lead guitars, that will pinch your brain with its razorsharp leads!”

SHUTDOWN – “UNTOUCHABLE”
NYHC vets Shutdown have shared another track from their upcoming comeback EP By Your Side, which features their first new music in over 20 years. Like the first single, “Untouchable” is classic Shutdown with a slightly more melodic twist.

DENZEL CURRY – “GOT ME GEEKED”
Ahead of tomorrow’s release of Denzel Curry’s expanded edition of King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2, he’s shared one more new song. This one leans into Denzel’s melodic side, and it’s a good one. You can also pick up exclusive color vinyl variants of the original King of the Mischievous South Vol. 2 in the BV shop.

YHWH NAILGUN – “PENETRATOR”
Experimental Brooklyn band YHWH Nailgun will release their debut album in 2025, and today they’ve put out this new single. Read more about it here.

JULIEN BAKER & CALVIN LAUBER – “GET ME AWAY FROM HERE I’M DYING” (BELLE & SEBASTIAN COVER FT. SOAK & QUINN CHRISTOPHERSON)
Julien Baker’s Belle and Sebastian cover, which she made with producer Calvin Lauber, is from Red Hot’s new TRAИƧA compilation and also features SOAK and Quinn Christopherson. Read more about it here.

RED SUN – “BOOMER”
OKC emo band Red Sun signed to Wax Bodega and their first release for the new label will be a split with Florida emo band Bonus. Red Sun’s first single “Boomer” is out now, and you can read more about it here.

BEIRUT – “CASPIAN TIGER”
“Caspian Tiger” is part of the soundtrack Zach Condon composed for Swedish circus comapny Kompani Giraff’s touring production A Study of Losses, and you can read more about it here.

THE JESUS LIZARD – “COST OF LIVING”
Post-hardcore/noise rock pioneers The Jesus Lizard returned in September with their first album in 26 years, Rack, and now they’ve given us more where that came from. They’ve just shared a digital non-album single from the same sessions called “Cost of Living.” Read more here.

FRECKLE (TY SEGALL & COREY MADDEN) – “TARAVAL”
Ty Segall and Corey Madden of Color Green have formed the new duo Freckle, and will release their self-titled debut album on January 31 via Ty’s God? imprint through Drag City. There’s not a lot of concrete info about the project, but with both Ty and Corey part of the LA psych scene, they were bound to cross musical paths. This is good.

SAINT ETIENNE – “HALF LIGHT”
Saint Etienne’s Bob Stanley says the band’s new album The Night “was designed to gently wash away the stuff in your head that keeps you awake at 2am.”

THE FARM – “FOREVER & EVER”
Liverpool band The Farm, known for their early-’90s baggy singles “Groovy Train” and “All Together Now,” are back and have announced their first album in over 30 years. Let The Music (Take Control) will be out May 2 via Modern Sky and this is the first single
