After keeping busy with film and TV projects over the past few years, Moses Sumney switched gears back to music last month with a new single, “Vintage.” He’s now announced that was was the first single from his new EP. Sophcore is due out via his own Tuntum label on August 2. “Sophcore explores the meeting points between sensuality and intuition … esotericism and populism … deep feeling and fun,” he says. “It’s diving into subterranean rhythm, bass and drums, and making music for the hips as well as the heart.” See the cover art and tracklist below.
Moses has also given us another early taste of the EP with the second single, “Gold Coast,” which mixes shimmering R&B with glitchy electronics. Watch the accompanying visualizer below.
MaXXXine, the Ti West-directed new A24 film that Moses stars in alongside Mia Goth, Halsey, Kevin Bacon, and more, is in theaters now, and he has two shows coming up at the moment, in NYC (TONES of NYC at Knockdown Center on October 10 and 11) and Raleigh, NC (Carolinadaze Music & Arts Festival at Red Hat Amphitheater on September 13).
