Umlaut-loving Philly rock band Poison Ruïn are back with Confrere, a new EP that will be out August 2 via Relapse. The EP finds them opening up their sound a little, adding more atmospherics to to their mix of death rock, punk, post-punk and tongue-in-cheek medieval imagery. You can listen to the bruising “Execute” and Confrere‘s title track below.
Also out on August 2 is the debut album by Poison Ruïn offshoot Shadow Knell, which is described as “mystical, mournful, and doom-laced synth fantasy that echoes from dungeons deep and forests eternal.” That definitely comes through on “Knight River” which sounds like a bid to score movies for Blumhouse or A24 and is pretty cool just on its own. Poison Ruïn will be spending most of August on tour in the UK and Europe but will be back in time to open for Uniform at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on 8/30. All dates are listed below.
