LCD Soundsystem began their 2023 Tri-Boro Tour — aka this year’s NYC holiday run — on Thursday night (11/16), the first of 12 shows across three venues in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. This was also LCD’s 60th Brooklyn Steel show — you may remember that they were the first band to play the venue back in April 2017. They know this room well and what the crowd wants to hear, and delivered a set full of hits, deep cuts, and a cover.
Among the deep cuts was the live debut of This Is Happening‘s stabby electro jam “One Touch,” which kicked off LCD’s second encore. The night started with “Us V Them,” which is a usual opener for the band, and the main set also included “Tribulations,” “Movement,” “Tonight,” 2022 single “new body rhumba,” “I Can Change,” “Yr City’s a Sucker,” and more before finishing with the satisfying trifecta of “Someone Great,” “Losing My Edge,” and “Home.”
They then returned for the first encore of “Oh Baby,” “Thrills,” and their cover of Harry Nilsson’s “Jump in the Fire.” For the second encore, after “One Touch,” they trotted out the biggest crowd-pleasers: “New York, I Love You but You’re Bringing Me Down,” “Dance Yrself Clean,” and their forever closer, “All My Friends.” Check out the full setlist and a few Instagram pics/videos below.
LCD Soundsystem play Brooklyn Steel again tonight, Saturday and Sunday, and then move to Terminal 5 (November 28-December 1) before wrapping things up at Knockdown Center (December 7-10). The run is sold out except for the 11/28 & 11/29 T5 shows (we’re also giving tickets away to those), but in years past, tickets have been released day-of-show, so it’s worth checking their Tri Boro Tour ticket hub you want to go.
