Greet Death have been riding high off the strength of this year’s great Die In Love, and now co-lead singer Harper Boyhtari has a new project with L Morgan, leader of the short-lived band Bristletongue, called Christian Science Reading Room. The lineup is rounded out by Greet Death’s Seth Beck and Bristletongue/meth. member Andrew Smith, and theri debut EP Under The Bed And In The Eyes Of Another arrives October 6 via Decapitator Records. First single “Bloodhound” finds Harper and L trading lead vocals, and it’s not too far removed from the softer indie rock songs that Harper wrote for Die In Love. Here’s what L Morgan had to say about the project, via Stereogum:
I think Christian Science Reading Room is a testament to the idea that you can meet the right people at the wrong time. Harper, Andrew, and I tried this once before half a decade ago in my band Bristletongue, but too many things went wrong, and interpersonal problems took us away from each other for a long time. Looking back at it, I don’t think any of us had lived enough life yet to achieve what this project asked of us. These songs are full of second chances — with collaboration, with friendship, with love — and everything we do is treated with that respect. There’s such a catharsis in finally getting to release something we didn’t think was ever going to exist.
