Big Thief have released new single “Vampire Empire,” which they previously performed on Colbert and which they’ve been frequently playing on tour since last fall. It’s a great song that finds Big Thief embracing their harder side (à la “Not”), and Adrianne Lenker says:
For me, it’s about getting out of toxic internal patterns – leaving the empire of energy drains that obscure pure essence, learning about what healthy boundaries are, and finding the power to implement them for the possibility of giving and receiving (both inwardly and outwardly) unbroken and infinite Love.
The song’s coming out on a 7″ on 4AD on October, backed by “Born For Loving You,” which Big Thief have also been playing live lately.
Big Thief’s Buck Meek is also gearing up for his solo 4AD debut Haunted Mountain, and he’s going on a tour that hits NYC’s Racket on October 27. All dates and more info here.
