Joining the long list of artists who do not want Donald Trump using their music at his political rallies are Swedish pop royalty ABBA. The Guardian reports the group have demanded he stop after finding out the campaign had not only used a few of their songs recently, but had also featured footage of the band on a jumbotron at a hockey area alongside political messages and calls to donate.
ABBA’s label, Universal Music, released a statement saying, “Together with the members of ABBA, we have discovered that videos have been released where Abba’s music/videos has been used at Trump events, and we have therefore requested that such use be immediately taken down and removed,” adding “Universal Music Publishing AB and Polar Music International AB have not received any request, so no permission or licence has been given to Trump.”
Other artists who’ve said no to Trump: Johnny Marr, Celine Dion, the estates of Isaac Hayes and Sinead O’Connor, and of course Neil Young.
