Since forming in March of 2005, the shapeshifting Rohnert Park band Ceremony have touched on everything from powerviolence to hardcore to garage punk to post-punk to new wave and beyond, and, especially when you see their killer live show, it all makes sense in the context of one band. In March of 2025, Ceremony will celebrate their 20th anniversary with two-night stands in San Francisco and NYC, and they’re promising no repeat songs through each city’s run. They’ll also have not-yet-announced special guests at each show.
The shows happen on March 7 & 8 at Great American Music Hall in SF and March 21 & 22 at Bowery Ballroom in NYC, and tickets go on sale Friday (9/13) at 10 AM local time for all shows. The NYC shows are on Citi cardmember presale now.
Ceremony’s shows are few and far between these days. They played just 10 so far in 2024 after their only 2023 show was a short surprise set at Sound & Fury, but their last show was also in NYC on August 24, when they flew in to open for the re-activated Power Trip at Knockdown Center. They played a career spanning, 13-song set with the crowd especially going wild for the much-loved older hardcore songs from albums like Rohnert Park, which is the record they played in full at a sold-out Hollywood Palladium show in February. Their other 2024 shows included Outbreak Fest in the UK and No Values Fest in CA.
Ceremony’s only other upcoming date at the moment is opening the San Jose date of the Sunami tour.
