ameokama is the solo project of Aki McCullough (of Dreamwell, A Constant Knowledge of Death, Necroplanet, and other bands) and she just announced her debut album, i will be clouds in the morning and rain in the evening, due February 7 via Nu House Studios. It features eight original songs and a cover of The Mars Volta’s “Copernicus,” and Aki says, “This album has been 3 years in the making, entirely self recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered by myself at Nu House Studios with the help of a couple guests” (those guests being Sylvia Haynes, Avery Sylvaine, and James Goldmann).
Aki recently released lead single “i am driving a car with a cute girl and pretending that the world isn’t ending,” and today brings the title track. Compared to the dreamy, driving indie rock of the first single, this one is more of an ambient pop song, infused with hints of black metal. It’s cool stuff, and you can hear it below.
