Daytona Beach, Florida hard rock and metal festival Welcome to Rockville, which goes down May 15-18, has been gradually rolling out its lineup, and now the full thing is here. The big names include usual suspects like Linkin Park, Korn, Rob Zombie, Shinedown, and Bad Omens, plus one of the headliners is pop punk giants Green Day. For any Green Day fans in attendance looking for more pop punk-y stuff, there’s also Jimmy Eat World (who also play the similar Sonic Temple festival, which is also put on by Danny Wimmer Presents), New Found Glory, Taking Back Sunday, Good Charlotte, Bowling For Soup, Real Friends, Lit, and the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, not to mention emo/post-hardcore representation from Underoath, Pierce the Veil, Saosin, Chiodos, Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, I Set My Friends On Fire, and more.
On top of all that, we get plenty more of the usual Rockville stuff like Alice In Chains, Incubus, GWAR, Hoobastank, P.O.D., Filter, Three Days Grace, Bush, Mudvayne, Sevendust, Motionless In White, Mastodon, Testament, Exodus, Obituary, The Black Dahlia Murder, Fit For An Autopsy, The Acacia Strain, Whitechapel, and more.
As these big hard rock/metal fests tend to have, there’s representation from the new wave of old school-style death metal (Gatecreeper, Sanguisugabogg, 200 Stab Wounds, Frozen Soul, Gates To Hell), the current hardcore scene (Knocked Loose, Kublai Khan TX, Sunami, Pain of Truth, Harms Way, Candy, Dead Heat, Incendiary, One Step Closer, Big Ass Truck), and the “cool” heavy stuff like The Dillinger Escape Plan, Power Trip, Nails, Converge, Deafheaven, Quicksand, HEALTH, Full of Hell, and Municipal Waste.
Welcome to Rockville is also a place where you can get down with the clown and see Insane Clown Posse, and it’s a place where you can vibe out the current incarnation of Sublime (with the late Bradley Nowell’s son singing). Or, you can take a break from all the headbanging for the chiller ’90s alt-rock vibes of Everclear. Hey, why not?!
