CFCF, aka Montreal producer Mike Silver, has announced his first album in five years. L.U.V. (Life in Ultra Violet) is due out June 12 via BGM Solutions. Full details of the album are not out yet, but Silver cites a lot of ’00s influence for this one: Stuart Price (Les Rythmes Digitales), Giorgio Moroder, Felix da Housecat, Electric Six, Scissor Sisters, Annie and Kylie Minogue.
“I didn’t want to necessarily make a Memoryland 2,” Silver says, “but to me this is an organic successor to that album. The overall vibe of L.U.V. is meant to be sort of eurodance with a sophisticated edge. It’s music for an adult lifestyle.”
The first single from the album is “Let’s Kill Ourselves,” which originally began as a cover of The Pony’s song of the same name, but then transformed into something much different. It features LA’s Touching Ice and Miami’s TECHG1RLS and feels like it fell out of the early-’00s electroclash scene. You can watch the video below.
CFCF have a few live dates lined up, including California shows this week and a few May dates. He’ll play a DJ set at Brooklyn’s Elsewhere Rooftop on May 1 with headliner Meitze Conte. See all dates below.
