The Knife‘s Olof Dreijer has announced his debut solo album Loud Bloom, which will be out May 8 via Dirty Hit imprint dh2. This may be Dreijer’s first album under his own name, but he’s released records as Oni Ayhun, and has had a flurry of new singles over the last couple years, not to mention remixes for Björk & Rosalía, Röyksopp, Robyn and more. “After taking a break I’m very happy to have arrived at allowing myself to just have fun with my own music again,” Olof says.
The album features contributions from Diva Cruz, Toya Delazy and, on first single “Echoed Dafnino,” Arabic vocals from MaMan, a Sudanese singer based in Cairo. “I was so moved the first time I heard the original version of Dafnino,” Olof says. “MaMan’s voice is so beautiful. I wanted to make it work in my DJ sets, so I made my own version that I felt became more than just a remix so I thought it could be nice to include it on the album. The additional vocals he recorded made it feel very special too.” Watch the colorful, choreographed video for that below.
