New Jersey chaoscore mad scientists the Dillinger Escape Plan upped the ante with Ire Works, their third album overall and second with frontman Greg Puciato. Original vocalist Dmitri Minakaksis guests, as does Mastodon's Brent Hinds, but the show belongs to the group's main players — Puciato, guitarist-founder Ben Weinman, bassist Liam Wilson and drummer Gil Sharon (in his one and only record with DEP). Ire Works captures a band with incomparable range and reckless ambition — veering wildly from ragers like "Fix Your Face" to the swaggering "Milk Lizard" to haunting piano ballad "Mouth of Ghosts."
