In a purely musical sense, Live Undead may not be the quintessential Slayer live album that 1991’s Decade of Aggression is. However, the 1984 release was arguably more integral to establishing the band’s reputation as the most evil musical force in the world — and one that people had to see live, if they dared. Its grim, zombie-fied artwork made Iron Maiden’s Eddie look like a Chuck E. Cheese character, and the heaviness of the performances were unparalleled — and still are.
