After just three years open, Bushwick club Paragon closed its doors and unplugged the turntables in April. But good news, they’re reopening thanks to Detroit techno icon Kevin Saunderson, who had played the club, loved it, and decided to invest in it and become a partner / resident DJ.
“Coming back to Brooklyn, where my story started, and bringing what Detroit gave me—it feels like a full-circle moment,” Saunderson said in a statement. “Clubs like the Paradise Garage and the Loft shaped my soul, and now Paragon gives me the chance to give that energy back to a new generation. Paragon represents the kind of space where past, present, and future dance together. I’m here not just to play music, but to help keep the spirit of real club culture alive—raw, soulful, and forward-thinking.”
Paragon will reopen on August 1, and that night Saunderson will spin alongside Carlos Souffront, Ashley Venom, LOKA, and Ana B (tickets).
Currently the club will only be open in Fridays, apart from a Dominican Night on Sunday, August 10, and the upcoming schedule includes Augustus Muller, WTCHCRFT, and more on August 8; Safety Trance, SoFTT, TYGAPAW and more on August 15; Joey Beltram, Akua, and more on August 22; and UNiiQU3, Byrell The Great, and more on August 29.
