Williamsburg’s Crest Hardware throwing Farewell Fest w/ Rev Vince Anderson, Jonathan Toubin, more

It was sad news for Williamsburg when neighborhood institution Crest Hardware and Urban Garden Center announced earlier this summer that they would be closing their doors for good at the end of August after 62 years. Before they do they’ll throw one last party, a Farewell Festival happening Saturday, August 24 from 2-8 PM. It’s free but they’re urging people to RSVP for headcount purposes.

The party includes live music from another Williamsburg institution, Rev Vince Anderson & His Love Choir plus special guests TBA. There will also be DJ sets from Jonathan Toubin, Lucas Walters, Andrew Raposo (Midnight Magic), Petey Complex, Rok One, Tekit Izi, Krunk Pony, Lauren Murada, and more.

There will also be live art by Michael Alan Alien, and you can preview all of the art that will be part of Crest’s Relics Sale that happens Monday, Aug 26 from 5-8pm.

Before that, Rev Vince will host a wake for Crest on Monday, August 19 that starts at Crest at 7 PM and will then travel, New Orleans Second Line-style, to Union Pool where Vince has his weekly free show. The wake is all-ages but Union Pool is 21+. They ask that you dress in Red, Black or White.

Vince says:Feel free to make signs to hold / carry to honor other institutional Williamsburg establishments that have shuttered. Examples : Dumont, Black Betty, Enid’s and so on. There are sooo many!:
