Australian great Paul Kelly will release Fever Longing Still, his 29th album, on November 1 via Gawd Aggie / Cooking Vinyl. It’s first first record of new original songs since 2018’s Nature and he made it at Neil Finn’s Roundhead studio in New Zealand.
“I never know what the themes are until I am in the middle of doing a record,” says Paul. “I don’t set out with an album in mind. Over the past 20 years, I just get the band together and put down a batch of songs. I put them in what I call my odd-socks drawer on the computer and as they accumulate, I see which ones work together.”
The first single from the album is “Taught by Experts,” the kind of jangling, hooky love song Paul is so good at. Listen below.
Paul, backed by his nephew Dan Kelly, will be on tour in North American starting September 11 in Ottawa, and many of the dates are with Shawn Colvin and Keb’ Mo’. He wraps up his visit with a headline show at NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on October 13. All dates are listed below.
