Velocity Girl have announced a “remixed and expanded” edition of their 1993 debut album Copacetic which will be out August 16 via Sub Pop (pre-order).
The album, which at the time was one of Sub Pop’s biggest sellers (behind Nirvana’s Bleach), has been out of print for decades and the band were never happy with the mix. After finding the original 2” tape reel, guitarist/singer Archie Moore went about remixing the album. The result is UltraCopacetic (Copacetic Remixed and Expanded) which is now a double LP with the new mix of the album on the first disc, and b-sides and Velocity Girl’s 1993 Peel Session on the second disc.
You can listen to the new mix of “Audrey’s Eyes” via a newly refurbished edition of its original video, and a/b that against the original mix, below.
Velocity Girl are continuing to play shows since reuniting last year, and they’ve got two this fall: Los Angeles at Teragram Ballroom on October 25 with Film School, and their hometown of Washington, DC at Black Cat on November 23 with Outer World. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday, June 14 at 10 AM local time.
