New York singer/songwriter Austin Knoll, who previously sang in My Sins and played guitar in Hotline TNT, is releasing his new album as Tracey Nelson, Hercules, this Friday (7/10) via K Records imprint Perennial. The project is named after Knoll’s mother’s (“He carries it with him wherever he goes,” a note on his Bandcamp reads) and you’ll likely recognize some of his collaborators on it, including MJ Lenderman and his Wednesday bandmate and former partner Karly Hartzman; Ethan Baechtold and Xandy Chelmis of Wednesday and Lenderman’s band The Wind; Landon George and Colin Miller, also of The Wind; and another former Hotline TNT guitarist, Jack Kraus. It was co-produced and recorded by Lenderman and Miller, and you can see the cover art and tracklist, and stream a few tracks, below.
Tracey Nelson will celebrate Hercules with an NYC release show Saturday (7/11) at Baby’s All Right with oldstar and Badger Hunt. Tickets are on sale.
You also have a couple more chances to catch Nelson in NYC coming up: he plays Elsewhere Zone One on July 29 (with Nap Eyes and John Andrews & The Yawns) and Cassette on September 17 (with Joe Kaplow and Here For You). He has shows in Europe and the UK too, and you can see all dates below.
Meanwhile, MJ Lenderman, Karly Hartzman, and frequent Lenderman collaborator Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Megafaun, etc) joined Tracey Nelson onstage late last week when he came to their home state of North Carolina for a show at Durham’s Fuzzy Needle on Friday (7/3). They came out for “Just Shoot Me Now,” the first song Nelson, Lenderman, and Hartzman released together back in February 2025, and you can watch attendee-taken video below.
