The always-busy Nate Amos (also of Water From Your Eyes and My Idea) released his fantastic new album as This is Lorelei, Box For Buddy, Box For Star, back in June, and he’s now announced a 2025 tour supporting it. His headlining run includes East Coast and Midwest dates in January with youbet, and West Coast shows in March and April with Starcleaner Reunion. Tickets to all new dates go on sale Friday, November 1 at 10 AM local.
The NYC show is at Baby’s All Right on January 22 with youbet, and shortly after the tour wraps up, the NYC-based musician plays his hometown again, opening one of the three MJ Lenderman shows at Brooklyn Steel. He plays the April 29 date (the other shows are with Joanna Sternberg and Nap Eyes). All This Is Lorelei dates are listed below.
When we spoke to Lenderman himself for our recent cover story of our digital magazine, he shouted out This Is Lorelei’s Box For Buddy, Box For Star as one of the albums he’s been listening to most lately. “Can’t shake that one,” he said. “The mix of sounds–it feels very midi and almost computer-based but it’s still a guitar album. It’s everything I love about Sparklehorse or something like that, just great pop songs. Lyrics are great too. On Saturday (10/26), we caught a short solo set from Nate at Honeymoon in Ridgewood, where he played a few of the Box for Buddy songs with just an electric guitar (auto-tune-less rendition of “Dancing in the Club” included). He was in intimate, casual form, sitting down in the back of the coffee-shop-meets-record-and-book-store, flanked by Honeymoon’s bookshelves and surrounded by 20 or 30 standing fans who hummed along to almost every song. He told the crowd he had to look up some of his own lyrics on Genius before the show, and his scrappy earnestness only made him more charming. Check out some pictures from that show below.
