The Early November announce new S/T LP & tour with Spitalfield, Hellogoodbye & more

The Early November have announced their first proper album since 2019’s Lilac. It’s self-titled, it was self-produced at band leader Ace Enders’ studio in Ocean City, NJ, and it comes out June 14 via Pure Noise (pre-order). It features the recent Clarity-esque single “About Me,” as well as the just-released “What We Earn,” which finds them in heavier, arena-sized territory. Listen and watch the Trevor Bowman-directed video below.

“‘What We Earn’ was the first song written for the album, and probably the most intense as well,” Ace says. “It’s about the realization that the glass ceiling over our heads is supported by the walls we build throughout our lives.”

“The initial spark of this record was frustration,” he continues. “Although we are growing in many ways and it’s a beautiful thing to be able to do what we do, it was born out of feeling like you’re doing the same thing over and over again, and out of this ‘I don’t care’ mentality. Not ‘I don’t care about the world’, but really digging deep artistically and having the view that if this is it, then I want The Early November to finally have the album that’s good enough to be the self-titled album.”

Drummer Jeff Kummer, the only remaining full-time member besides Ace, adds, “There have been so many highs and lows throughout the career of this band, but it got very dark. And a lot of this record is coming out of that, but we’re still here with a collection of brand new songs and it feels right. I feel more connected to where Ace’s mind is with this record than I ever have before.”

The Early November also announced a headlining tour with support from fellow 2000s-era emo-pop bands Spitalfield, Hellogoodbye, and Hit the Lights, plus newer band Cliffdiver, varying by date. That tour kicks off in NYC on June 22 at Le Poisson Rouge with Spitalfield, and the tour wraps back up in the Northeast, including a NJ show on July 18 at Asbury Lanes with Hit the Lights and Cliffdiver.
