New Found Glory announce ‘Catalyst’ 20th anniversary tour with Sincere Engineer

Pop punk giants New Found Glory‘s fourth album Catalyst turns 20 this year, and the band will be celebrating by playing it in full on tour with support from a great newer band, Sincere Engineer. It birthed the band’s big hit “All Downhill from Here” and it found them getting a little heavier and riffier without abandoning their usual pop punk sugar rush, setting the tone for a lot of the more aggressive pop punk stuff that came in NFG’s wake.

“Fans trust us because of albums like Catalyst,” says guitarist Chad Gilbert. “We can make these records and branch out creatively, and they know we’re never going to do something really weird. We are who we are, and I love that we can play whatever and still crush it.”

“We were coming off ‘My Friends Over You’ and had the pressure of fans going, ‘Oh, what’s this band going to turn into?” he continues. “We decided to keep being ourselves. Rock bands were going a little more pop at that time, but we wanted to carve out a lane for ourselves and say, ‘Look, we’re part of this genre and love it, but we’re also one of a kind and different.’”

The tour includes NYC-area shows on August 21 at The Paramount in Huntington (Long island) and August 24 at Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, NJ. Tickets go on sale Friday (3/15) with presales beforehand. All dates are listed below.
