Teenage Fanclub have announced Do Not Dare To Dream, the band’s 13th album, which will be out October 9 via Merge. “It’s difficult when it comes to… coming up with a name for an album,” singer-guitarist Norman Blake says. “Especially after you’ve made 12 of them.” The album was produced by the band, which also includes co-founders Raymond McGinley and Francis Macdonald, along with Euros Childs and David McGowan.
“It’s been a while since we started doing this thing we do, but to us it feels like no time at all. In the place where we made the record people would have been singing thousands of years ago,” McGinley says, noting the album was recorded at Black Bay Studio on the remote Scottish island of Great Bernera. “Life is short, but music is eternal.”
The first single is “Day in the Sun,” which is written and sung by Blake and is a signature harmony-laden Teenage Fanclub janglerock earworm. You can watch the video, directed by Donald Milne, below.
