Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory announce first ever North American tour, share new single

Sharon Van Etten is releasing her debut album with her new band, The Attachment Theory, in February, and they’ve shared the second single, “Southern Life (What It Must Be Like).” Like first single “Afterlife,” it has a moodier, synthier sound than we’ve previously heard from Sharon, and she says that it’s about “trying to understand people with very different perspectives and backgrounds, while also trying to be compassionate towards our past, present, and future selves.” Watch the video, directed by Ethan Dawes, below.

Sharon and The Attachment Theory have also announced their first-ever tour, which begins in Westerly, RI on February 1 and runs through May 21 in Los Angeles, with a European leg in late February and March. The first three dates are with Sharon’s old friends She Keeps Bees, and the European dates are with Nabihah Iqbal, while Love Spells opens the North American shows. See all dates below.

The tour includes a Woodstock, NY show at Bearsville Theater on February 3, a home state NJ show at Asbury Park’s The Stone Pony on February 4, and an NYC show at Brooklyn Steel on May 2. Tickets to all dates go on on sale Friday, December 13 at 10 AM local, with various presales starting Tuesday, December 10 at 10 AM local.
