Shannon & The Clams announce new LP ‘The Moon is in the Wrong Place’ and tour, share title track

Shannon & The Clams have announced a new album, The Moon Is In The Wrong Place, which will be out May 10 via Easy Eye Sound. The Black KeysDan Auerbach, who worked on The Clams’ last two LPs and Shannon Shaw’s underrated 2019 solo debut (and runs Easy Eye Sound), produced the album.

The album was inspired by tragedy: in 2022, Shannon Shaw’s fiance, Joe Haener, was killed in an auto accident just weeks before their wedding. “We all felt the urgency of making something that reckoned with this meteor that smashed into our planet,” keyboardist Will Sprott says. “This is the most focused record we’ve ever done, as far as everything coming from a singular traumatic event.”

Sad as the circumstances are surrounding it, the resulting album looks to be the most ambitious one they’ve ever made, leaving the garage for widescreen high-fi production. You can get a taste with The Moon is in the Wrong Place‘s title track, which almost sounds like a Bond theme. Watch the video, directed by Bobbi Rich, below.

Shannon & The Clams have also anounced tour dates, which have them out this spring and fall. The NYC stop is at Warsaw on May 30 and you can get tickets early for that show with the BrooklynVegan presale that run from Monday, January 29 at 10 AM through Tuesday, January 30 at 10 PM. Update: use password SATCBV.

If you miss out on our presale, tickets for all headline dates go on sale Wednesday, January 31 at 10 AM local. All dates are listed below.
