Puzzled Panther, the NYC band led by Victoria Espinoza and Kay Bontempo that also features Gogol Bordello‘s Eugene Hutz and Yeah Yeah Yeahs drummer Brian Chase, have shared their self-titled debut EP, which is out now via Hutz’s Casa Gogol Records. The EP was produced by Hutz, and veteran producer/engineer Nick Launay mixed the first single, “Smoke & The Mirrors We Broke.”
Espinoza describes Puzzled Panther’s sound as “post-punk Renai-Dance,” while Hutz adds, “There are a multitude of influences here, but what brings it all together is the love for a smashing rock song with noisy transitions.” You could also just call it rock n’ roll with lots of attitude — check out the EP and the videos for “Smoke & The Mirrors We Broke” and “Legs Long” below.
Puzzled Panther will celebrate the EP’s release with a show at NYC’s Heaven Can Wait on April 12 with Bubbles and, after midnight, a DJ set from Eugene Hutz. Check out the show poster below.
