One True Pairing, the solo project of former Wild Beasts co-leader Tom Fleming, has announced a new album, Endless Rain, which will be out October 25 via Domino. Fleming made the album with John ‘Spud’ Murphy (Lankum, black midi, caroline) at Dublin’s Hellfire studios, and it features Lankum’s Cormac MacDiarmada and Percolator’s Eleanor Mylor.
It’s been five years since the first One True Pairing album. “I didn’t write anything for ages and then it all happened at once,” says Fleming. “That hasn’t happened before. ‘Frozen Food Centre’ has possibly been in my head for about seven years and I couldn’t find a way to get it out. But ‘Be Strong,’ ‘Tunnelling,’ they were fifteen-minute jobs.”
The album includes the previously released “Mid-Life Crisis,” “Frozen Food Centre,” and “Be Strong,” and Fleming has just released a new single, “A Landlord’s Death.” He says of the song and its subject, “Parasites the fucking lot. No tears shed for the guilty. We’re coming.”
