Oasis are still nearly a year away from the first show of their Live ’25 Tour — which will be their first live dates in 16 years — but details are shaping up. They haven’t announced who’s in the band this time, but they have revealed who will open on their UK and Ireland run (via The Independent): The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft, with whom Liam Gallagher toured in 2018, and Liverpool band Cast, who are led by onetime La’s bassist John Power. That’s an appealing triple bill for ’90s Britpop fans.
“As a fan from day one I was buzzing for many reasons when the news of Oasis’s return was announced,” says Ashcroft. “I can say with no exaggeration that the songwriting talent of Noel and Liam’s pure spirit as a lead singer helped to inspire me to create some of my best work. It was the perfection of Live Forever that forced me to try and write my own. They dared to be great, made the dreams we had real and I will always remember those days with joy. Now it’s time to create more memories and I’m ready to bring it. See you next summer. Music is power.”
The North American run of Oasis’ reunion tour, including NJ’s Metlife Stadium on August 31 and September 1, will be opened by Cage the Elephant, and no openers have been announced yet for the band’s dates in Australia.
