Nation of Language, Model/Actriz & more playing solar-powered show at Brooklyn’s Navy Yards this weekend

Nation Of Language, Grace Ives, Model/Actriz, and Psymon Spine are playing this Saturday, October 26 at NewLab in Brooklyn’s Navy Yards for what is being billed as Brooklyn’s first-ever totally solar-powered / battery-powered show. Tickets are on sale.

The show is a collaboration between clean energy organizations DER Task Force, SOLARPUNKS and our friends at fellow music blog Stereogum. “While there are many technical challenges to get to 100% solar-powered parties at scale, it’s doable,” says DERTF’s James McGinnis. “We’re stoked to continue partnering with SOLARPUNKS to figure out how. Then, maybe all the other festivals can do it too and stop burning hundreds of thousands of gallons of diesel. And beyond that, we want the event to make people realize it’s not all doom and gloom. Decarbonization is happening faster than people think. We don’t think the world is gonna end or that we need to sacrifice everything to achieve a better, clean energy future.”

Nation of Language will also play Brooklyn’s Warsaw on New Year’s Eve, in addition to dates in South America and Australia. Those dates are listed below.

Model/Actriz also play tonight (10/25) at Pioneer Works as part of the United Sounds Festival, along with The Dismemberment Plan, Sunflower Bean and more.
