Jim James of My Morning Jacket releases his new solo album, Wowed Out, next month, and he’s given us another preview with the title track. “Lately I’ve been really into music like Alice Coltrane’s spiritual recordings,” he says, “where it’s just her and organ praying together, and there’s no major event. I wanted these songs to feel like a journey that takes you somewhere rewarding, without always trying for some big dramatic payoff like a massive chorus or a huge guitar solo.” Watch the video for “Wowed Out” below.
James also announced a fall solo acoustic tour supporting the album. Grace Rogers, Ken Pomeroy, Lauren Frihauf, and Jenny O will each open the shows, varying by date, and you can see all dates below.
The NYC show is at Town Hall on December 3 with Ken Pomeroy. Tickets to that and all dates go on sale Friday, July 31 at 10 AM local, with various presales starting Wednesday, July 29 at 10 AM local.
