These days Mica Levi is known for their eerie, amazing film scores (Under the Skin, Jackie, The Zone of Interest) but they got their start in avant pop group Micachu & The Shapes and continue to make solo, non-composer music. Levi has just released a new single for lauded electronic label Hyperdub (Burial, DJ Haram, Jessy Lanza).
Powered by syncopated drumbeat and swirling strings, “slob air” is both danceable and cinematic as it stretches across 12 beautiful, mesmerizing minutes. Mica has a few live dates on the horizon, including two UK/Northern Ireland dates with PJ Harvey, and they will head to NYC to play Knockdown Center’s The Ruins on August 29 with claire rousay and Still House Plants. There’s also a performance at Turin’s ClubtoClub Festival in October and all dates are listed below.
