Chicago trio Lifegaurd are back with a new two-song single that’s out now via Matador. It’s their first release since their 2023 Matador debut (which collected two previous EPs) and features slashing new original “Ministry / Energie” and a cover of “Telepathic Love” by influential Portland post-punks Wipers. You can listen to both songs now and the 7″ will be out in October.
Meanwhile, Lifeguard are currently on tour with Austin band Font (whose debut LP is out this week) and they’ll stop in Brooklyn to play Union Pool on Sunday (7/14) as part of the venue’s free Summer Thunder series. Mei Semones is also on the bill and the show runs from 2-6 PM. The tour wraps up in Chicago for Pitchfork fest (Lifeguard only), but then both bands play Chicago’s Empty Bottle the next day.
