Massive Attack were supposed to be on tour in the US right now, including a big NYC show at Forest Hills Stadium, but all dates were canceled due to “unforeseen circumstances.” They still haven’t made a statement beyond that initial one in their Instagram stories, but it looks like they’ll be back in North America in the spring.
Mexico City’s Axe Ceremonia festival happens April 5 & 6, and Massive Attack are one of the headliners, alongside Tyler the Creator, Charli XCX, Natanael Cano, Parcels, Tororrow X Together, Gesaffelstein, and FKA twigs.
Their canceled tour was anchored around their appearance at Miami’s III Points fest, so let’s hope Massive Attack announce North American dates around Axe Ceremonia. Stay tuned.
The only other upcoming Massive Attack date is Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena, which is part of their Act 1.5 Climate Action Accelerator series where they aim to decarbonize live music at a rate compatible with the critical Paris 1.5 agreement commitments. The first in this series happened in August in their hometown of Bristol, where the sound system and lights were powered by batteries charged from wind and solar power. There are three nights of shows in Liverpool, headlined by IDLES (November 28), Massive Attack (11/29) and Nile Rodgers & Chic (11/30).
