Manchester jazz-punks Maruja going on first US tour in 2025, playing SXSW & Big Ears

Manchester band Maruja have been releasing music since 2016 with a mix of punk, prog, jazz, electronics and experimental song structures, a combo that has them grouped in with the likes of black midi, Squid and Black Country, New Road. As a coworker said earlier today, they could be the band that unites fans of BCNR, IDLES, Makaya McCraven and Chat Pile. This has been a prolific year for the four-piece, who have released two EPs (The Vault and Connla’s Well) and most recently the “Break The Tension” single. You can watch the video for that and listen to the EPs below.

Maruja will be on their first US tour in the spring, including festival stops at SXSW in Austin and Big Ears in Knoxville, as well as a Brooklyn show at Market Hotel on March 22. They were also just announced for UK hardcore fest Outbreak. All dates are listed below.
