Los Angeles singer songwriter Loren Kramar, who you might have seen on tour with Father John Misty, has announced his debut album, Glovemaker, which will be out April 26 via Secretly Canadian.
“Glovemaker has become a kind of code for artmaking itself,” Loren says. “A glove as a covering or mask that follows the contours of the life beneath it. As a song and symbol, this is an album about studying and tracing my own life – and then sharing what’s there. I live with a constant sense of reaching and this song is an attempt at telling that story. The loneliness, the striving and the obsession with becoming a better artist, more successful, more understood, loved.”
Glovemaker includes “Hollywood Blvd,” which Kramar released last year, and he’s just released the album’s title track. If you like Father John Misty’s glammy, theatrical showbiz tales, this is not dissimilar. Watch the lurid video below.
Loren play’s L.A.’s Zebulon tonight (1/30) and will be in NYC next month for shows at Joe’s Pub on February 7 and Baby’s All Right on February 14. Both shows are with Ruby McCollister. There are also a few UK dates in March and all are listed below.
