Death Lens announce Epitaph debut ‘Cold World,’ begin tour this week

LA punks Death Lens have announced their first album for Epitaph, Cold World, due May 3 (pre-order). “‘Cold World’ just seemed to fit in the days we’re living,” the band says of the album title. “It’s the desire to thrive in a deteriorating world all while pushing those who feel like there is no hope and hoping to give them a second wind, a sense of hope.”

The album was produced by I Am The Avalanche/The Movielife’s Brett Romnes, and the band says, “This was our first time using a producer and we were scared that our sound was not going to be us, but Brett was such an amazing addition to the writing process. The goal was to find a common ground and build from that and we did almost instantly on day one, it was beautiful.”

“Cold World” is also the name of the new single, which finds the band in mid-tempo post-hardcore/alt-rock territory, balancing out their punk roots with woozy textures and a sticky chorus that suggests a love of pop music too. Check it out below. It’s the album’s third single, following “Vacant” and “Limousine.”

Death Lens are also about to begin their stint on the Militarie Gun / Pool Kids / Spiritual Cramp tour this Wednesday (1/31). They’re on the tour through February 10.

Death Lens don’t play the NYC stop of the Militarie Gun/etc tour (that’s on 2/15 at Bowery Ballroom with Spaced on the first-of-four slot instead), but they do have several other upcoming dates, including a tour with DC’s Teen Mortgage that hits Brooklyn’s Union Pool on March 22 with Mad Doctors.

Death Lens also have an LA show with Wavves. All dates are listed below.
