UPDATE: Primavera Sound now says they wrote “new album” in error and actually meant new song “X-Ray Eyes.”
One of the nuggets in the press release for the Primavera Sound 2025 lineup is that LCD Soundsystem, who are playing the Barcelona festival, would be releasing a new album next year, which would be their first in eight years. From the PR: “If this is a celebration, then let’s embrace LCD Soundsystem’s ‘All My Friends’ as the official anthem of Primavera Sound Barcelona 2025. Almost twenty years after giving the world this dance-rock ode to friendship, the influential band led by James Murphy will come back to the festival (and with a new album!).” That bolding is ours, btw.
We’d been wondering what was up since new LCD song “X-Ray Eyes” premiered on NTS Radio show “Soup to Nuts” earlier this week (with no other word yet about it). But between the new song and Primavera’s news, it seems like we’ll get official news sooner than later. Stay tuned.
That makes LCD’s upcoming L.A. and NYC residencies a lot more exciting. The LA residency happens at Shrine Expo Hall on October 31 and November 1, 2 and 3, and then at Hollywood Palladium on November 7, 8, 9, and 10. Tickets are here.
The NYC residency is at Knockdown Center, with 12 shows across three extended weekends: November 21-24 with Poolside; December 5-8 with Gustaf; and December 12-15 with Fcukers. Tickets are on sale.
