Laurie Anderson with Sexmob, Nada Surf, more playing free WNYC 100 year celebration in Central Park

WNYC is celebrating its centennial this year, and as part of that they’re throwing a free event at SummerStage in Central Park on September 9. Brian Lehrer will host a live radio broadcast featuring Ira Glass of This American Life, John Schaefer of New Sounds, Sean Carlson of All Things Considered, Brooke Gladstone and Micah Loewinger of On the Media, Alison Stewart of All of It, and Gabrielle Shea of The Moth. There will also be performances from Laurie Anderson with Sexmob, Nada Surf, Freestyle Love Supreme, mxmtoon, and Donwill (DJ set). It’s free to attend and subject to capacity, and if you can’t make it in person it’ll also broadcast live on WNYC at 93.9 FM, AM 820, WNYC.org, or the WNYC app.

Anderson recently released Amelia, her first album in six years, which features ANOHNI, Gabriel Cabezas, Rob Moose, Ryan Kelly, Martha Mooke, Marc Ribot, Tony Scherr, Nadia Sirota, and Kenny Wollesen; stream it below.

Nada Surf’s 10th album Moon Mirror is out next Friday, and they’ll be on tour this fall supporting it with their new New West labelmates Office Dog, including an NYC show at Webster Hall on October 4.
