Jack White kicked off the three-show Northeast run of his ongoing No Name tour — he’s only announcing a few dates at a time and just a few days before they happen — at Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall on Monday night.
The new album was the main focus of the first half of the set; he opened with “Old Scratch Blues” and “That’s How I’m Feeling” before covering Muddy Waters’ “Tom Cat.” He did drop in The White Stripes‘ “Black Math” in the middle but saved most of the old favorites for the end, closing the main set with “Suzy Lee” and “Catch Hell Blues.”
The band then took a break and came back for another seven songs, starting with The Raconteurs‘ “Broken Boy Soldier” before launching into “Seven Nation Army,” which may have had a little more electricity than usual, given Jack had announced earlier on Monday that he and Meg were suing Donald Trump for using it in his campaign. The second set also included “I’m Slowly Turning Into You,” Blunderbuss solo song “Freedom at 21,” “Fell in Love With a Girl,” and No Name‘s “What’s the Rumpus” before the night closed with “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground.” Jack also whipped a few vinyl records into the crowd at the end, which may or may not be better than catching a guitar pick.

Jack plays New Haven, CT tonight and Cambridge, MA on Tuesday before jetting off to the UK for a trio of shows this weekend. He’ll also play Memphis’ Mephisto Music Fest in October and Mexico City’s Corona Capital in November.
